Vicki Eckert

Vicki Eckert, Spine Surgery Patient

Procedure: Lumbar Fusion

What was your initial medical issue?

It all started with a sore back that just kept getting worse and worse. Eventually I had an MRI that revealed a fractured vertebrae and a herniated disc that was pinching off nerves in my back.

What did this issue prevent you doing?

Basically everything. It interfered with my ability to work and do basic daily tasks. Worst of all it prevented me from lifting and caring for my 2-year-old daughter.

What made you decide to do something about your problem?

I tried cortisone shots, but those didn’t work at all to relieve my pain. I was at the point when I was willing to try anything to get better – including surgery. It was my first surgery ever so I was pretty scared, but Dr. Sinicropi made me feel comfortable.

Why did you choose Dr. Sinicropi?

My chiropractor referred me to Dr. Sinicropi and Jake Guth. I also read nothing but positive reviews online.

What treatment/procedure did you have done?

2nd level lumbar fusion.

How did you feel after treatment?

There was pain and discomfort from the surgery itself, but two months after the procedure I feel great. My back pain is gone, I’m back at work, and I can lift my daughter into my arms again!

What advice would you give other patients in a similar situation to you?

Try everything you can to make yourself better. If other treatments don’t work, don’t be afraid to try surgery. It will make you happier in the long-run.
