Procedure: ACDF Spinal Surgery
What was your initial medical issue?
I took a bad fall about a year ago that led to sharp pain in my low back, neck, and legs. Prior to my accident I was a perfectly healthy 77-year old.
What did this issue prevent you doing?
I couldn’t perform my job duties very well. It was painful to stand for long periods of time. Sleep was also difficult – whenever I moved my legs I would wake up from the pain.
What made you decide to do something about your problem?
Right after my fall accident I began experiencing pain. I sought medical treatment right away. I tried physical therapy for several months, but it didn’t help. After I got my MRI results back it was clear that I needed to have spine surgery.

What treatment/procedure did you have done?
Low back fusion, followed by ACDF Surgery – Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Fusion.
How did you feel after treatment?
I felt great right after surgery. I didn’t even need to take many of my prescribed pain pills. Now I can walk around without any of the pain I felt before.
What advice would you give other patients in a similar situation to you?
Don’t wait. Get the surgery if you need it. My situation would have gotten much worse if I had waited.
