Procedure: Spinal Fusion

What was your initial medical issue?

22 years ago I had a partial discectomy surgery that went well, but after 22 years, I needed the inevitable fusion surgery. The sciatica pain and tingling in my feet built up over the past 2-3 years until it became unbearable.

What did this issue prevent you doing?

I’m an active guy, but the pain and weakness in my legs prevented me from playing tennis and boating. Worst of all I felt like I couldn’t be the rock for my family that I always had been.

What made you decide to do something about your problem?

While on a boating trip with my family, we hit a wave and the impact sent shooting pain up my spine. Shortly after that I couldn’t get out of bed because the pain was so intense.

Why did you choose Dr. Sinicropi?

I initially went to Health East for spinal injections. They helped a little bit, but eventually wore off. I was then referred to Midwest Spine & Brain Institute by a specialist.

What treatment/procedure did you have done?

Spine Fusion.

How did you feel after treatment?

When I woke up from surgery I could feel the socks on my feet for the first time in months. The pain in my legs was also gone.

What advice would you give other patients in a similar situation to you? 

My life has completely changed as a result of this surgery. My wife says she has her husband back.
